Electric vehicles
We’re fully charged when it comes to our vehicles. Our fleet already includes 10 electric cars and one electric lorry – delivering performance without the emissions. And we’re just getting started. And with a high-capacity charging set-up on-site, we’re ready to scale – come along for the ride.
Accelerating towards a cleaner future – powered by green electricity.
We kicked things off in 2016 with our first fully electric company car. Today, we’re already driving the transition from diesel to electric with 10 EVs in our fleet – all powered by our own sustainably generated electricity.

By 2030, we aim to switch all company cars to electric and convert at least half of our lorry fleet to run on green e-power. This won’t just cut carbon emissions, it will also allow us to make the most of our in-house renewable energy – keeping us on the road sustainably.
Since 2024, we’ve been successfully trialling a Volvo electric HGV for our logistics operations. Starting with a single tractor unit, we’re already seeing the clear benefits of electrification: energy consumption of just 1.1 kWh per kilometre and a practical range of 120 to 150 km make this heavy-duty vehicle surprisingly efficient.
By 2030, we want to make real progress in greening our logistics as well. The future set-up will depend on how the current Volvo test run performs, but early results are promising. In particular, larger electric engines with extended ranges are showing great potential as a valuable addition to our fleet.
We’ve already built a strong foundation for our current electric fleet, with 18 charging stations – and yes, visitors are welcome to use them too.
As part of our transformation strategy, we’re aiming to further electrify our fleet and make our charging infrastructure even more accessible to external users. By 2030, we plan to expand to 30 charging stations, including dedicated units for lorries and heavy-duty equipment like excavators and forklifts.
FAQ – 8030. Future. Now.
Learn more about our mission and efforts in our Frequently Asked Questions section.
- What exactly is the "8030. Future. Now." initiative?
We understand the responsibility that energy-intensive industries like ours carry. Those who continue to rely on finite, combustible energy sources have likely missed both the urgency of the moment and the vast potential of an energy transformation towards alternative, sustainable solutions. This isn’t about politics – it’s about facts. By generating our own renewable energy, we reduce our dependence on external suppliers, actively cut operating costs, secure the future of our company and our employees, and open up new areas of business along the way.
- Why is the transformation so important for Schlamann?
Because we recognise that the energy transition – and sustainability goals in general – can’t be achieved by government plans alone. Every company has a responsibility, and we’re ready to shoulder ours. We are doing so with conviction and the confidence that it’s the right path forward.
- What specific goals is Schlamann pursuing with the programme?
On the one hand, we recognise our environmental responsibility – to society and to future generations. But the economic benefits and resulting competitive edge are just as important. This way, we remain an attractive employer and building materials supplier AND make a meaningful contribution to the environment.
- What is Schlamann actually doing?
When it comes to sustainability, we’re not here to watch from the sidelines – we’re getting stuck in. Over the coming years, we’re investing a high six-figure sum in expanding our wind and solar energy capacity. We’re also putting serious effort into energy storage, upgrading our vehicle fleet and electrifying the steam generation process used in production.
